DivX 10.6 – Playback DivX media. June 2, 2016 DivXintroduces the latest codec and enables high quality DivX HEVC video creation and video streaming with existing DivX tools. Based on the newest video compression standard, DivX HEVC strives to deliver up to 50% better compression than its H.264-based predecessor, DivX Plus HD. Based on my testing, Allshare's media playback definitely does not support all of the media formats/codecs that the primary video player supports. So while DivX and MKV videos work fine copied to your SD card, the current version of Allshare may not stream them wirelessly.

DivX is a high-performance video plug-in that lets you create and watch high-quality movies and video.

All its three components are focused on delivering you the best HEVC experience, and not only. The DivX Player renders HEVC videos encoded up to 1080p; the DivX Web Player is responsible for video streaming and downloading in your browser; the DivX Converter allows fast and simple conversion to various video formats.

Though instead of opting for something like DivX Codec, you might be better off getting something free to view videos like VLC Media Player or encoding with an open source codec like the XviD. DivX has outlived its purpose.

  3. DivX Playing Software

For anyone who downloads video online, DivX is a household name. The thing many users may be unaware of however, is just what that term means. DivX is a brand that consists of various things at once. First and foremost, DivX can be a video codec – either in standard definitely, or in high definition, but it is also a video player. To be able to play video encoded in DivX, you do not need the DivX player as you may expect, simply the DivX codec. So, with that understood what is and why do you want DivX Plus?

DivX Plus contains a media player, a video converter, the DivX codec and also a plug-in for Web browsers. Put simply, the suite of applications gives you everything you might need for DivX. The player offers support for a wide variety of video formats and codecs, including MKV, MP4 and MOV, along with many different audio formats. While it doesn’t have the native compatibility of an application like VLC Media Player, it still offers a lot. If you want to encode/convert video with DivX, then the official converter is a great place to start and for streaming DivX, the plug-in is also useful.

Pro's: Contains every DivX product you need, gives you compatibility for DivX in browsers.

Con's: All features available as multi-codec packs as well.

Conclusion: If you only plan to use DivX on your computer, then this is a great package to download, but if you plan to use, convert or encode multiple video formats, then you may as well use something else.
